According to Mac Rumors, the big brand Apple is unlikely to expand its LiDAR scanner to the iPhone 3 lineup. Basically, the LiDAR Scanner is a small sensor using 3D sensing in order to measure distance up to 5 meters away. This high-end technology enables enhanced AR experiences along with other unique capabilities. This includes measuring an individual’s height quickly. In March 2020, Apple unveiled the LiDAR scanner on its iPad Pro. Later on, it expanded the scanner to the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max. Since then, there have been regular rumors if Apple will bring all these features to iPhone 13 models or not.
LiDAR Scanner in New iPhone 13 Models
As per DigiTimes Report, it was suggested that Apple is planning for its next flagship lineup. Moreover, we can expect LiDAR in the new iPhone 13 mini as well as the standard iPhone 13. The brand also unveils new specifications or features on higher-end devices before trickling them down to lower-end devices in later years. After two months, trustworthy analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that LiDAR Scanner remains restricted to iPhone 13 Pro models. This claim was quickly collared by sources who had a word with Barclays analysts. Rather than the pushback, Daniel Ives, a Wedbush analyst, has claimed twice this year that new iPhone 13 models will come with LiDAR.
According to leaker Dylandkt, who reveals many accurate things about Apple products in the past said, LiDAR is “only coming to the Pro iPhone models.” Even if it doesn’t come with the iPhone 13 non-pro variant, we still expect that other camera-related aspects will be expanded across the entire iPhone lineup. It includes sensor-shift stabilization that will introduce improvements in low lights stabilization and performance by reducing camera shake.
Besides that, there is also a possibility that all iPhones will get an upgraded Ultra Wide Camera lens. These lenses come with a wider g/1.8 aperture. However, Kuo believes that his upgrade will be exclusive to the Pro models. In fact, display analyst Ross Young also believes that the 2021 iPhone lineup will use the camera sensors used in iPhone 12 Pro Max. It will bring improvements to the lower-end models as well.
